![]() ![]() The Roman Catholic Church believes that all of their seven sacraments were instituted by Christ Himself. Thus, sacraments are not merely a symbol, but are believed to actually confer sanctifying grace upon the recipient. In order to qualify as a sacrament, the Roman Catholic Church states that it must meet the following three criteria: a) the external, that is, a sensibly perceptible sign of sanctifying grace, b) the conferring of sanctifying grace, c) the institution by God or, more accurately, by the God-Man Jesus Christ. Because God has done this, man is foolish to not make use of this God-provided means of gaining sanctification. The Roman Catholic Church teaches that while God gives grace to man without outward symbols (sacraments), He has also chosen to give grace to man through visible symbols. As believers in Christ, when we have the fear of The Lord, He'll give us His wisdom, His understanding, knowledge, counsel and might.“Sacraments are outward signs of inward grace, instituted by Christ for our sanctification” (taken from the Catholic Encyclopedia). The Spirit of the Father (Matt 10:20), The Holy Spirit ( John 14:17 16:13) is working within us if we allow Him. 4:6 "Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts." HE promises to strengthen us too (Isa 41:10). The fear of man contrast with having the fear of The Lord. Today the fear of The Lord means we honor and revere Yahweh to the extent that we chose what's in God's Word over what others think and need to correct what we think to be line with His Word. There are several verses that state "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." Prov 1:7 and "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." Psa 111:10 "And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah: And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, To devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship."
